After spending a month with various AI companion apps, here's what I discovered about myself and this technology.
The Surprise
I expected to find AI companions gimmicky or无聊. What I found surprised me. When used intentionally, they can provide genuine value.

- Expecting genuine emotional understanding
- Relying on it during acute mental health crises
- Comparing it to human relationships
Key Insights
1. The relationship you have with yourself matters most. AI companions work best when they support your existing wellbeing, not create it.
2. Boundaries are essential. Set time limits. Use it intentionally, not compulsively.
3. It's okay to feel weird about it. Initial awkwardness is normal. Push through it if you're genuinely curious.
Would I Recommend It?
It depends. If you're curious, have reasonable expectations, and maintain healthy boundaries - yes. If you're expecting to replace human connection or solve deep psychological issues - no.
